Swiss Office

Globally acknowledged as the gold-standard for European diversification, Switzerland provides a highly efficient business environment with some of the lowest tax rates in Europe.

Quastels’ Swiss office is located in the Canton of Zug and, in conjunction with Howard Rosen Solicitors, is one of the only international English law firms working out of Zug to serve the local and wider community.

The office provides English law advice to UK, Swiss, international corporates and individuals in relation to cross-border transactions, structures, immigration, disputes and guidance on all Swiss or Lichenstein related matters.

Quastels LLP Zug branch is run and managed by Howard Rosen CBE, an English qualified solicitor who has run his own renowned and complimentary practice, Howard Rosen Solicitors, in Zug for the last 40 years and which he will continue to run in tandem.

In addition to English law legal advice Quastels is able, via Rosetrust AG, to provide strategic and commercial legal advice on setting up and running Swiss corporate structures (both operating and holding companies), foundations, and offshore trust structures.

Key Legal Practice Areas

Expertise

Private Wealth & Tax

Our Private Wealth & Tax team advises high net worth individuals, families and family offices on English law and UK tax matters involving international assets and cross border structures. We provide specialist advice where Swiss residency, offshore vehicles or international holding arrangements intersect with UK domicile, residence or tax exposure.

Ben Rosen leads the practice and is recognised in Legal 500 and Spears for his expertise in private wealth and tax planning. Quastels is also recognised as a Times Best Law Firm, reflecting the strength of our private client offering. Ben advises on UK inheritance tax planning, domicile and residence issues, trust structuring, succession planning and the ownership of UK real estate through corporate and trust vehicles.

We work closely with Swiss fiduciaries, private banks and tax advisers to ensure English law and UK tax considerations align with wider Swiss based structures. Our presence in Zug enables us to provide accessible, coordinated English law advice to Swiss resident individuals and families with UK connections, supporting long term wealth preservation and governance across jurisdictions.

Sports Law

Our Sports Law practice advises athletes, agents, clubs, governing bodies and commercial stakeholders on disputes, regulatory matters and strategic commercial issues under English law. From our Zug presence, we are well positioned to support matters involving international federations and sports organisations headquartered in Switzerland, as well as disputes with cross border English law elements.

We act on contractual disputes, disciplinary proceedings, regulatory investigations, governance challenges and sponsorship conflicts. Our work frequently involves complex disputes between clubs, players, intermediaries and governing bodies, as well as enforcement and settlement strategy in high value commercial conflicts. We also advise on governance structures, compliance obligations and regulatory exposure affecting sports organisations operating internationally.

Simon Grossobel leads the practice with significant experience in high value and high profile disputes, bringing strong commercial litigation expertise to the sports sector. We regularly advise in matters connected to international federations and arbitration proceedings, including strategic preparation for sports related arbitration and enforcement actions.

Our approach combines legal precision with commercial pragmatism in a sector where timing, confidentiality and reputation are critical, and where disputes often carry significant regulatory and commercial consequences.

Trust & Private Wealth Litigation

Our Trust and Private Wealth Litigation team specialises in complex and high value contentious trusts, estates and foundation disputes involving Swiss, offshore and UK structures. We act for trustees, beneficiaries, protectors, family offices and ultra-high net worth individuals where English law governs aspects of trust documentation, succession, fiduciary duties or dispute resolution.

Thomas Klemme leads the practice and is recognised for his expertise in international trust litigation, foundation disputes and art related claims. He acts in high value, multi-jurisdictional matters involving competing interests between trustees, beneficiaries and advisers, often in structures administered from Switzerland with English law elements.

Many private wealth structures overseen by Swiss fiduciaries involve UK assets or English law governed trusts. Disputes frequently create conflicts of interest that prevent existing advisers from acting for all parties. In such circumstances, independent English law representation is essential. Our presence in Zug positions us to work closely with Swiss trust companies, private banks and advisers while providing specialist English law advice in sensitive, reputationally significant disputes, including breach of trust claims, trustee removal applications, foundation governance disputes and professional negligence claims involving fiduciaries.

He advises private clients and international structures on digital estate planning, custody, control and succession of cryptoassets.

Our work includes shareholder agreements, joint ventures, governance frameworks, group reorganisations and cross border transactions where English law documentation forms part of a wider Swiss based structure. Working alongside trusted Swiss advisers and corporate service providers, we coordinate the establishment and structuring of Swiss and Zug based entities where English law elements are involved. We also advise Swiss entities seeking to establish or expand into the UK, including company formation, governance documentation and commercial arrangements under English law.
