Some of the Key changes under the Employment Rights Act 2025 include:
- Removal of 2 year limitation and potential ‘6 months’ unfair dismissal rights
- A ban on ‘fire and rehire’ practices limiting when and how changes to employment contracts can be made
- Trade union recognition, access to the workplace and information to employees (regardless of business size)
- Requirement to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment and third party harassment
- Day one rights for SSP, Paternity and Bereavement leave
- Requirement to offer guaranteed hours to zero-hour workers,
- More stringent process on responding to flexible working requests
These changes and more have been described as the ‘largest overhaul of Employment law in a generation.’ Employers need to understand this from the top to be prepared.
