Presentation to Students at Cambridge University

10 May 2013

Quastel Midgen’s immigration law team recently visited Cambridge University to give a presentation on the available routes for graduates who wish to stay in the UK upon completion of their studies.

Our immigration team understands the difficulties that bright and capable international students meet when they face the competitive UK job market. Their immigration status can add another hurdle to an employer’s decision-making process. We aim to educate international students who are seeking to remain in the UK with vital information on the rapidly changing UK immigration regulations.

Tanya Laidlaw, the head of our Immigration Department, provided to the students details of recent changes to immigration rules. She said: “From my professional experience and analysing the frequency and depth of changes to immigration rules over the last 4 to 5 years, it is obvious that immigration rules are becoming tougher and more complicated. Therefore, it is highly advisable to seek professional advice from an immigration solicitor before submitting any type of application.”

The visit was arranged in conjunction with the Cambridge University Russian Society but was attended by students from a number of different countries. Vladimir Kovaliov, President of the Cambridge University Russian Society, said “We were really glad to welcome Quastel Midgen here at Cambridge University to deliver their presentation to our international students. Everybody found it extremely useful. I have discovered other options available I had not previously thought about and gained a clearer understanding of my immigration status.”

If you are an international student and you require advice on the legal options available to you to remain in the UK after completing your studies, please do not hesitate to contact our immigration team.Image 1Image 2photophoto2
